Default Cervical cancer

One of my friends died of cervical cancer. Then I heard the news about the new vaccine. http://www.thedartmouth.com/article....=2006041301020 My friend thought she was just going through menopause when she had heavy bleeding during her periods that she attributed to a fibroid tumor. She didn't trust her doctors especially as they didn't take her seriously and didn't have her yearly pap test. She was too young to die, don't be like her. Get your pap test even if you hate them.
Anyone else have similar stories or additional information?

The drug can end an early(undesired)pregnancy(this medicine should not be taken if more than 7 week have passed since your latest menstruation

Of course women should be advised of the effects of any drug treatment. However, if cervical cancer is detected, this will advise you of the course of action.

The pap is a very important test. And now there are tests for those of us who have family history of breast and ovarian cancer. Very important to not ignore these.

Many women live in fear of the conical biopsy/colposcopy - having been through one with resulting cryo treatment in the office, I can tell you that while it is uncomfortable, it is well worth it. Take a couple of motrin, and if they do the cryo treatment (freezing the affected area to destroy the cells) be aware that you will shiver without feeling cold. It is weird, but not painful (at least not as painful as what happens when cancer is further along)

Women beyond child bearing age are vulnerable because we think since we're done with that baby stuff we don't need to bother so often - and for some of us the routine exam is more painful. So we put it off. If we experience weird bleeding, we think, oh, it's just this menopause thing, not all settled out yet. If you thought you were past peremenopause, and you experience bleeding, it could be many things - fibroids, cysts, cancer. See your doctor.
