Did you lose much else in the freezer? That just stinks big time to lose a major applicance.

Bet that the turkey smells delightful!

I'm thinking.....
turkey salad sandwiches,
turkey and dressing casserole,
turkey and noodles,
turkey and rice casserole,
turkey slices sandwiches,
turkey divan - thin slices of turkey, thin slices of ham, wrapped around cooked broccoli and topped w/ cheese sauce,
BBQ turkey sandwiches.

Good luck w/ getting a new freezer!

Hey Angie...I think we salvaged more than we lost...we did lose some waffles, bacon, sausages, homemade spag sauce, and a few other things..It really does suck..we actually got this freezer from my parents a few months back but it was quite old..It had been working for them no prob (and us too for a while) but maybe in the moving of it it just decided it was time...it really didn't owe anybody anything..for an appliance it had lived a lengthy life!! It was great though to be able to bulk shop when things were on sale..won't be able to do that for a while!! Re the turkey: we do have lots left over even after giving some to my friend next door and my sis...thanks for all the great ideas...Want a little care package??

If you leave the freezer door shut the food doesn't warm up, our old freezer had been broken four days before we got another one and even the icecream was still frozen.

Unfortunately even though some things remained sort of chilled for the most part some things were beyond saving....it started slowly but then all of a sudden there was water in the bottom so yeah...it is sitting outside right now waiting to be removed..and we will have to wait for a wee while to get another one...!!!

Make sure you take the door off it while it sits outside!

Good point...Just checked with hubby...the freezer doesn't lock so it is safe..not that I think somebody is going to climb into it anyway...(it is stinky and still has some water in it!!)..Plus with the lid on...keeps the kitties out...b/c no doubt one of them would be curious enough to have a peek!!!
