DH and both DSs are circumsized. It is cleaner, tidy, and best that father and son have similar appearance.
We had a friend, of one of our sons that was a premie....so never had it done as a newborn. In the 4th grade, he began to get infections, and had to be put to sleep for this surgery in the 4th grade.
The week before we were married, DH's uncle (only 2 years older) as an adult developed an infection problem and had to be circumsized. The week before our wedding no less!
He did not make the trip. He was married at this time. (I always wanted to ask the question, if he felt any difference before vs after.......but never could ask.)
I do know that both of my sons' grandfathers were born at home and are not circumsized.
MIL told me when my DH (her son) was born, the doctor did not give her any option, "That's what is done!"
Just think of the aging population,
we have more elderly on Medicare than ever before,
and the baby boomers are right behind,
that I would guess most will end up
in an extended care facility with staff having to care for their
hygiene on a daily basis.
Here are some 2003 stats for the USA.
