Clear Blue Question - Newbie at this
Hi all! I'm new here, and my DH and I have been TTC for a few months now. Here's a little background on our journey before I get to my question. I went off of BC in June, and have had 6 cycles since. The first four were 28 - 32 days, and then the last two were 38 days. I assume that the last two were longer because of exercise and because the BC was out of my system. Anyway, I was worried that I kept missing my O b/c I was guessing the wrong date, so I just picked up a Clear Blue Monitor to take some of the guesswork out. I've been using it for one cycle now, and I've been on "high" from day 16 - 23 (which is today). Still no electronic egg yet (my DH calls it an EE!). So for those ladies that have used this, is it normal for your first cycle to have 8 high days? Do you think that I will still hit peak, since I may be on a 38 day cycle? Or is it common not to have an egg appear on the first cycle? Basically I'd love for someone to tell me to just be patient!!
Thanks ladies!

All I can say is to try to be patient but if you have time and really want to get pregnant, why not just have sex with your partner everyday, this is obviously going to work.

Welcome! That first cycle with the monitor is a "getting to know you" cycle, you may or may not see the Egg. Next cycle will be more accurate once the monitor has data to compare your results to. Sometimes BDing every day can be detrimental to TTC, especially if it takes DH longer to produce more spermies. Every other day should suffice. That is what we would do, then on the 2 days of the Egg, we would BD both of those days. We did conceive doing just that. Good luck to you!

It's true what the PP said - the first cycle is not always accurate, as it has no hormone levels to compare to. You may not get that "egg" this time. But next month, when there is information in their, it will compare your hormone levels and be able to determine when they are rising. Also, many women have a cycle occassionally where they do not "O". Be patient - it will work!! (I also conceived using the monitor, but was lucky to 'Peak' the 1st time using it!)

Hi girl121! I was in your same boat this cycle. This has been my first w/ the CBFM as well. I too have a longer cycle - 41 days. My monitor gave me lows the first two days, and then highs every day until CD 25. It then went straight to low. Since I was expecting it not to work this month, I bought some OPKS as back up and started using them CD 23. Well, I got a high with them CD 25, when my monitor had gone to low!! That day is also when my EWCM started. Needless to say, it completly missed my O. My advice is to get some OPKs this month and start using them. You may still have time to catch your O. Do you montor CM? I also tracked my basal body temp on Fertility Friend.com I think the monitor will work if you give it time, but it may take a bit longer with a longer cycle. I wasn't patient enough this month and wanted to do all I could to catch that egg.

Thanks ladies, I do feel better. I'm on day 24 now, and the CBFM is still on high. I'm sticking to the every other day method for now, but I'm looking foward to figuring out the exact O date. I'd love to see it go to peak!! I gave up on OPKs because I thought they were inconsistent, and although I do monitor CM, I'm not sure I can tell exactly when it becomes EWCM. I'm paying much better attention this month though!!
Caniac - I was on FertiltyFriend for a while tracking my basal, and I eventually just gave up. Based on that I was Oing on day 18 or 19, but with a 38 day cycle, that just didn't seem accurate to me. And I wasn't getting pregnant, so I figured I would by the CBFM and see if it gave me a different day. Being patient is tough!!

A day 18 or 19 O does seem a lttle early. I would guess you'd be somewhere in the 20's. FF gave me and O date of CD 27. I think your bases are pretty well covered if you are BD every other day.
