Default concern or no?

Kenzie does not roll. She has a few times- but only once(tummy to back) was I positive that she intentionally meant to roll. She gets pretty close in her bed at night and tends to sleep half belly/half back- kind of side but more on the belly. So, I know she at least has the ability to get to her side- but during the day- she doesn't really try.

She is a BIG watcher- watches everyone. All her other milestones are in track or a bit early.

Honestly, I am not too concerned because she sits and stands VERY well for a 5 month old- and she can scoot, too. But, she spends VERY little time on her belly- She does grab for toys on the floor and will scoot to them if she is on her belly(her head is always in the carpet- and she uses her legs to propel herself to her destination)..

So, with all that said? No biggie? Do some babies just not roll? Or should I be a bit concerned?

Some babies just don't roll. She will probably learn get into a crawling position from sitting and will roll later on. Josh was practically walking before we saw him roll.

I would not be too concerned. Some babies just do things out of order. Emma was crawling for over a month before she sat up. Both of my other 2 sat up before they rolled. She will roll when she is ready!

I wouldn't be concerned. Nevy was scooting at about 4.5-5 months but had only rolled once or twice. She sat unsupported at about 5 months but still wasn't really rolling. She could flip to her tummy but had a hard time getting on her back. At about 6-7months is when she really started rolling. I think they dont use it very much now b/c mommy takes them where they need to be. When she gets into that "independent stage" and wants to explore by herself that when they really use rolling and scooting to get around.

Jamie has never rolled, apart from the mud eating obsession completely normal.

Kaydee is the same way (well, as i said before it seems we have the same kid!) She CAN roll...she just chooses to lay on her belly, bury her head in the carpet and scream for someone to come roll her over...laziness, or like my dad says, second child syndrome (spoiled rotten in other words)

Quick story...Jaecy is in gymnactics, and Kaydee comes along with us...I layed her on her back and she rolled over to her belly for the first time! I was so happy!! Then all of a sudden she rolled over again...and then again...I realized she was rolling to get to a ball sitting on the floor....i thought for sure she would continue doing this, but no.....one time deal!

Im not sure if Kenzie does the same thing, but when u lay Kayds down on her back she kinda arches and turns her head, to the point that you would think shes just gonna roll over, but then gives up and just lays there....

dont think its anything to be worried about...Jaecy was crawling well before she learned to sit up on her own

Yep, sort of. She does this thing where she'll arch her neck to look at something of interest- and arch her back at the same time and use her feet to do a 360.. But she doesn't roll! She's a nut!

yup, exactly what Kaydee does...

hopefully she will follow in Kenzie's lead and sit up soon....I sit her and she just pushes herself back really fast and arches and im so afraid shes gonna really hurt her head...in tripod position she does the same thing...sits there fine for a few seconds then i guess doesnt want to sit up anymore and throws herself backwards!

Kenzie still thrashes back when she's had enough. Though she last for a few minutes now- What I did when she was just starting to learn to sit- I'd either let her practice in the middle of our bed or make a padded area on the floor- so, when she was "done" she could fall back without hitting her head.

After Court had her problems, she did the same thing with setting. She would get done and throw herself back, I had to surrond her with rolled up blankets or small pillows. See when they want something they can get there themselves
