Default Could, maybe, quite possibly....be here now...

My supply has dropped significantly. I used to be able to pump 12-16 oz while at work which was more than enough for DH and sitter to feed her and now I am lucky if I get 4-6 oz. Therefore....we might have to top off with formula I still plan on nursing her as much as I can, and still plan on pumping while at work so she can at least have something.

My question is...what is a good brand to go with? We have a ton of samples of Similac with DHA and something or another else so we're going to start with that but should we use a different brand? And do we need to use boiled water or buy bottled water to mix the formula with? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Aiden stopped BF at 11mnths...I gave him in the begining formula specifically for allegies...I didn't want him to go straight to reg formula as he was not used to it. He did fine with it. I hope gracies does great with hers...BTW I don't recommend soy formula unless you have tried everything else...

Formula feeding has it's perks. You've had a really good run, and should be proud of yourself. Many moms are able to supplement without problems...there's no reason to think you won't be able to too.

So today I was able to pump alot. Maybe I'm not really here yet....I guess we'll see.

Someone suggested adding rice cereal to my MM to make it more substantial. I don't really think it's a good idea...what are your opinions?

I did this with Alejandro when he was about 7mnths old...I made the nipple bigger and only put about a tsp or so in it...he liked the thick texture and it helped as he was forced to go cold turkey with the BF'ing (he was in the hosp)...It helped trasition him into formula. But it is ultimately your choice...you know your babe best

hm, I'm not sure. All of my kids had their cereal separate...there just wasn't anything to indicate they needed it added to their formula. If I had been lucky enough (or worked hard enough for it) to make it this far breast feeding only, I think I would have continued doing that as long as possible...adding cereal may interfere with breastfeeding (of course, I'm NOT an expert on bf 'cause I only lasted about 4 months)

eta: I'm so happy your supply went back up for you!!!!
