Default Coupon policy change or .....

NOTE: This is on Staten Island (where they should be kissing my patootie to keep me as a customer).

Well, this is the 2nd time a cashier has tried to impose the 4-like coupon limit on me for a non-doubling coupon. Today it was Friskies cat food - coupon is $1 - so I was planning to use .... LOTS.

She told me the limit is four like - I disputed (politely pointed out to her that the policy both in the flyer and on the wall of customer service) saying that it means double 4 like coupons and since these are not going to be doubled, then I can use all I want. I further stated that the policy on doubling states: additional coupons will be at face value so it allows for more than 4. She called the head cashier who found tiny miniscule print in the flyer which states: we reserve the right to limit coupons. So I wrote to "Dear Shoprite" on their web-site and we will see IF I get a reply.

I asked for a clarification of their overall coupon policy and specifically with regard to the willy-nillyness of "reserving the right to limit" to mean that on a bad hair day I can only use 1 coupon for my entire order, or only 1 doubled, only 1 that's green with orange stripes, etc. I phrased it politely but basically said that that phrase does not allow a person to be prepared when arriving at check-out and that if I had 10 items and the cashier that day hit traffic on his way to work, then he could decide to limit me to 1.5 and I think it would be beneficial to all to have a comprehensive, written policy and one of which all employees are aware and which is uniformly applied.

So, we shall see. In the meantime, I know she didn't ring up all my coupons because my order should have been about $10 and it came up to $30 but I was late for an appointment so I will have to "spin" back after reviewing it at home. (I was planning another trip this evening anyway.) Either way, it wasn't a BAD trip, I did get $100 worth of stuff - but that's so not my usual kind of trip. I hate it when my savings is less than 85%.

I've gotten the spew of trash as well. All stores are independently owned and can ienforce whatever policy that they wish. My repsonse was -Then they should have it posted. Linden NJ is the worst. I don't have probablems with the dollar plus coupons or frees anymore in Woodbridge or Perth Amboy. Nor have I been hassled the past 2 weeks when I got 8 hefty (4 green and 4 blue) and used 8 like coupons that were 1/1.

I would leave the products and let them reshelve them. Go out to the car and come back in and get 4 more. Yes that is what I do. Over and over and over. That's my exercise. Walking the store and parking lot. Then the DH an DSs have to unload the car!!

Well if you don't want to keep going in LMK so I can drive over to SI and buy them all out! It's only 20 minutes for me.

Bonnie calls it "spinning", my DH calls it my "whirligig" and he loves it cuz it gives me exercise - and with my bad back, it's good exercise for me - I rest at the car before hitting the store again. I do this at all of them but dang, now to work out the 4 on dollars - it's a good thing I was a math major in college!!

I have found a way to conserve on energy a bit - I load up my shopping cart - then just grab light-stuff - 4 at a time and do the whirlygigging without having to race the entire length of the store! Sometimes they steal my cart to reshelve so I have to start all over again!

But you are more than welcome to come and join me and we will 4-at-a-time them together! W I T H credit cards!!!
