Smile Potty

I've been putting Gabby on the potty after bath (i tried before bath but she just had a complete panic cos she thought she wasn't going to have a bath) and sometimes in the middle of nappy change (occasionally i have just asked if she wanted to use the potty and she showed some signs of interest so i put her on) this is just for her to get use to the potty... about 2 months ago i put her on the potty and went to get a nappy but when i turned back around she had wet on the floor, seemed like she felt herself about to go and stood up not knowing what to do, she was very upset by it... then less than a month ago she was doing the little dance and grabbing herself so i asked if she needed to use the potty and she rushed over to it, being colder it took a little while to get her nappy off and when she sat down i noticed a little drop of urine on her but atlas, she didn't go (i think we were too late)... today i put her on the potty then ducked into the kitchen to check dinner (was gone 10 secs) came back and she was going, at first i don't think she realise she was going cos when i came back out she started to get upset about it... but it's a start, she now knows what to do in the potty... we aren't actually going to really start potty training til the weather warms back up (unless she shows interest in really learning)

YAY!!! Even those accidental yet successful trips are good. We are in no way actually trying to get Jaxon potty trained he shows interest and wants to sit on there. He has probably gone about 5-10 times. DH and I both put him on there whenever we go in there and before a bath (he usually pees the minute his feet touch the water)

I personally think that successful potty training cant happen unless the kid actually shows interest.

i feel the same, that the child needs to show interest... Gabby is interested it the whole sitting on it bit, but that has always been the extent of it, she even sits her toys (dolls, bears etc) on it ... however she still can't tell me when she has gone in her nappy although she is now, sometimes, telling me she has poop but then other times she seems oblivious to the fact

Well it's a start and at least she knows what the potty is for. I agree potty training should start when the child shows interest.
