CVS Chatter & Rumors
This is a fact:
My CVS circular this week has the special deals with the ECBs
listed as "One per HOUSEHOLD" or "Five per HOUSEHOLD."
Did anybody else catch the new phrasing?
*************
Rumor:
One CVS co-manager told me that the CVS red cards will be limited to one per household.
I do not know how this will work as previously, a husband and a wife were expected to have two cards.
He also said that anyone seen with 2 CVS cards will be asked to leave as they will be out of compliance w/ the new rule.
(Guess he'd better not look on my keychain as I have 2 of the little red CVS cards - DH & mine.)
Have you heard anything from corp on this rumor?

The question is how will they enforce this rule?

Unless they force us to sign a new policy card, I don't see how they could legally force us to 1. We would have to be grandfathered in.
But I'm okay with going to the 2 different CVS in my area to get my deals, if need be.

Rumor:
Same CVS co-manager stated they will be looking at the names on the CVS cards and matching them to faces.
ie a male CVS name vs female customer.
(Am guessing we need unisex names like Lynn, Kim, Terry, Jimmie, Jonnie, etc.)
I asked him if they planned to check our driver licenses along with the CVS card to coordinate a name and a face as we checked out. (My tongue in cheek question, that I had heard elsewhere on the net.)
His response, "We may just be doing that."
So then, I went on to ask, that when I pick up my elderly parents' prescription medications in the pharmacy area. How is that going to work, with my driver's license in purchasing my parents' meds? (I am legally their Power of Attorney for Healthcare and can legally do so.)
He did not quite have an answer for me.
You know me........I then asked, since I was legally picking up their medications from the pharmacy, why I could not use my Mom's CVS card to purchase items for her in the store.
His answer: "No, she has to be present to use her own CVS card to get the benefits."
Grrrrr! It was rather an irritating conversation, but I did not lose my cool or my even tone.

That is very interesting. And what if your ECBs happen to not have ANY name on them? I believe I might have "ahem" a few like that. I'm guessing you meant ECBs as my "registered" CARDS have no names.
Oh, and about picking up Rxs....I have gone to many different pharmacies (CVS and other) throughout the last 28 or so years for my husband, daughter, and mother (and father while he was alive) and have NEVER EVER been asked to provide ID when dropping off OR picking up an Rx. I'm guessing it's not required by law, at least in my state of Florida. In fact, last month I had to pick up 3 different strong narcotic Rxs (controlled substances) for my daughter as she had some elective surgery and had reactions to all the pain meds. They never blinked an eye and this was a CVS that didn't know me from Adam (at least in the pharmacy area!)
I also have a durable power of attorney for my elderly mother, which allows me not only to make healthcare decisions but to do such things as buy and sell real estate, open and close bank accounts, sign her checks, tax return, etc, and Mr. Co-Manager of CVS is not going to allow me to buy a toothbrush and earn and spend her ECBs for her? I don't think so! Oh, this might come in handy if it ever came to that....I'm also able to SUE in a court of law under her name!

OMG, this is getting rather silly, IMO. The ads have up to now that deals went by card. CVS sets the # limits. To me that is where it would be more helpful. If there is such a problem w/ multiple cards, just limit to 1 on deals instead of 5! How many folks have more than 3 cards in the big picture? I'm sure some do here, but let's just say for argument sake, 3 is average for multi cards. W/ limits of 1, even w/ 3 cards, a person would only get 3. W/ one card and limit of 5, they get 5. I'd rather see limits go down b/c even w/ 3 stores, most of the time I can't find most of the free items. Items are rarely ever restocked.
I've been cutting back my more than one orders anyway just b/c of lack of stock. I'll definitely only do them w/ my favorite cashier. Same w/ checking all my cards for cpns at the kiosks. Though, I think picking on people showing more than one card when they are only checking out w/ one card would be ridiculous. Why couldn't I check my mom's card at the kiosk to see if she has any good coupons? If I'm not checking out w/ the card...
The one card is low on ECBs. Maybe I'll just be phasing that one out...

lol mary i agree, why not just say limit 1. nobody told them to put limit 5 on the diabetes monitors then limit people in store to only 1 lol because they are low on stock.

My point was that some managers/co-managers "have all the answers," but nothing to that effect is in the rules, yet.
I just love been ornery some days.

It's like they make it up as they go along. It's a bully tactic, and it just makes them look dumb.
