My husband and I haven't been "together" in a month because we were going through the beginning stages of a miscarriage, and now our doctor is saying we have to wait ANOTHER month because of our D&C.

We were wondering..
Is masturbation, with no penetration, of course, ok? (in other words, can i climax without injuring myself)
and is "backdoor" sex okay?

We don't want to risk not being able to have kids or me getting an infection, but from the generality of what we understand, the only reason we can't have sex is because of the risk of infection, so we are figuring if we keep things around that area completely clean it will be okay, but we want other opinions before risking it.

I'm sorry for your recent loss. Gosh, after my d&C we were told to just wait a week, not a month before we could have sex (w/ protection). I'd call the doctor's office (or email if that's an option) w/ your questions. They are valid and I'm sure frequently asked by others in your situation. I'd think your ideas would be okay, but that's just my guess.

Did you happen to ask your doctor why you have to wait so long after the D&C to have sex?
Yes, you need to use a condom to prevent infection on any item (human or mechanical) that you plan to insert.

some drs want you to wait longer based on the type of D&C you have. There are two different ones. There is one where they suction everything out which is a lot more gentle and causes less complications as far as healing goes but there is also a scrape type D&C and that is where the stricktly scrape everything out. I think that if you were to have sex that I would talk to the dr. As far as self pleasing i would suggest using some form of protection since the risk of infection is high. As far as backdoor sex which is something I personally dont have any kind of experience with. I would talk to your dr. I am not sure if that is something you should do.

my doctors said to only wait 2 weeks or until the bleeding stopped. to prevent infection. but then again listen to your doctor they would know best. every D&C/D&E procedure is different as is every doctor. So trusting them would be the best bet good luck!
