Finally, a few moments to type my birth story. Okay, let's see - as most of you know, I was due the middle of April. My gynae planned to do a c-section on 9 April because he suspected my son was going to be a big baby. On thursday I saw the dr and posted that he wanted to do the c-section earlier - the 2nd because I was getting stronger and stronger BH contractions and he didn't feel I'd last another week....He also suspected that I had way too much amniotic fluid for 37 weeks - they call it polihydrumious (SP?)

3 hours after I posted that thread, the contractions started coming quicker and stronger. I was a day past 37 weeks.
I wasn't yet convinced it was labor. We went to bed. At 3:30am I woke hubby and said things didn't feel right. We waited until 4:30 and I called the labor ward. The midwife told me to come in. We phoned my sister to come stay with my girls and went to my mom's house on the way to hospital to pick up a camcorder. Well....my water broke in my mom's lounge!

DH and my dad nearly died of fright! They both turned instantly pale. (DH was in denial that this was indeed

labor )....Anyhow, we rushed off to hospital. After consultation with my doctor and another doctor, they decided that a c-section was still safer with the extra water and his head was still very high...it would be a long labor. So I got a spinal and Daryn was born just after lunch! They were right about the 'too much animotic fluid' - I lost alot durng the morning and they took off 1.1 litres in theatre!!! My dr said it was so much, it could easily have been another baby!
After two normal deliveries it was a whole new experience. I'm glad that I prepared myself for a c-section and was completely fine with it on the day. The day after his birth, Daryn developed a breathing problem with water on his lungs. He was taken to ICU and after two days there is thriving. He will come home to us on Friday. He is taking his breastfeeds very well too!

I am so happy to have my little boy! I am doing fine too! Gina
