I have a HUGE problem. I have been single for 3 years now on account the last relationship I was in was very traumatic for me and my daughter. She was 6 years old at the time and is now 9 years old. I made the commitment to not date anyone during that time until both of us could heal from the situation. Within the last 6 months my daughter has been making statements referring to me meeting someone. After lengthy discussions with her, I found out according to her, that she is ready for me to meet someone. Well, 2 weeks ago I did. She was extremely excited and happy for me. I had made plans for us to go out on our first date this week but when I told her about my plans, she now has changed her mind and stated that she doesn't want me to date anyone until she is in highschool. (she's only in 4th grade) What am I supposed to do? She is sending me mixed signals. I don't want to hurt her by going out on my date but at the same time this guy seems like a really nice and decent guy. Is there anyone out there that has had this problem come up with them? I've told the guy what is going on, and he seems to be really understanding and patient. He just wants to know what I'm going to do, and right now I have no idea. Do I give in to my daughter or what?
