Dating Online
I'm 18, the guy I'm "online dating" is 23 years old. He's from Kentucky, I'm from Texas. I graduate from high school this May 2007. We met online in a yahoo chat room and honestly I thought he seemed like a rude person, lol put I checked his profile and he was a good looking guy. I didn't want to message him because I wasn't sure if he would blow me off or say hi. But to my surprise he messaged me, and really he didn't seem like the rude person I thought he was at all. Now nearly two years later...after endless hours of phone conversations and sharing our life stories I'm getting ready to move up there with him, of course he will be here for two weeks or so to get to meet my family and hopefully give them a little ease on how they feel about this, I have a close family and I love them to death, I know that I will miss them and I know that they aren't going to like me being so far away. I'm a smart girl and I always have been, and at that time I was just online from boredom and chatting, he was a nice person to talk to and I enjoyed our conversations, but I never expected this much to come out of it, my mom is the type of person who insists that you can't know a person from just talking to them on the phone. I think that we both got to know each others personalities and a lot more about one another, since we couldn't really do anything besides talk to each other, and my opinion is, there are just as many strange men you could meet at a bar as on the internet, it just seems to be the hot topic of the year/years. I really want my family to be supportive as I plan on going to college not too long after I move up there and he's going to attend with me, we are both enrolled already and I think it's going to be a wonderful experience! I just don't know how to make them support my decision, I mean I realize I can't win 'em all, but they are my family and I love them! Help!!
