Default Debt Compared to Sin

There was a tradition of forgiving debts during the sabbatical year (Deut. 15:1, 2). The sabbatical year of release is a type of the "acceptable year of the Lord" (Luke 4:18, 19, NKJV), when Jesus by His grace releases us from our debts by granting pardon for our sins. Those who have been crushed by overwhelming debt know the joy of release. We should experience the same relief and gratitude when Jesus forgives our sins.

How would it be if each sabbatical year all debts were forgiven?

How would it be if we could all forgive those who had also wronged us?

Default Forgiveness of Sins

I know what you mean about forgiveness. On my walk to Emmaus, by the way if you ever get the opportunity to go I would highly recommend it, I was speaking with my roommate late one night and told her I was struggling with self forgiveness.

Her simple statement to me was "You know Jesus has forgiven you, and you have forgiven those that have wronged you and asked Jesus to do the same right?"

My answer was yes of course.

She then replied "Then what makes you think that your forgiveness of yourself is greater than the forgiveness you have already attained and feel from Jesus?"

That said it all as it should have.

That's a wonderful thought, Leslie. I think we all struggle with self forgiveness. Sometimes our money problems reflect that.
I don't think that Sabbatical year is coming any time soon as far as creditors are concerned, azme, but perhaps if more people could lighten their spiritual load the finances would follow!
