Decluttering the movies
Does anyone else have a glut of movies, specifically VHS movies? I want to attack our movies and get rid of a bunch. Can you all cheer me on?

I threw out many of our old VHS's. We didn't have a vcr any more. Then my father gave one to my daughter, so the old kids movies have returned.
I learned my lesson though, and I have not bought many dvd's. We can rent them, or buy the really, really special ones (like Dirty Dancing, Wizard of Oz, etc.) but I'm not going to buy a slew like I did with VHS. They just don't get watched enough to warrant the $20/movie.

We recently discovered Redbox, so we have been getting cheap (or free) DVD rentals from there. So far, we have rented two free movies and wound up going to the store to buy one of them! Sheesh--not a good start, huh?
You can find codes for Redbox, here:

We donated a lot of the kids movies to a local daycare center (along with a bunch of books) since our kids were 10 & 12.
6 months later I found out I was PG again, go figure!

Donation is a great idea.
Isn't that funny how life works? I just recently gave away all of our infant stuff, and now I'm worried!

How funny, I was thinking that same thing not even two days ago while looking over at our movie cabinet. I may not be much of an inspiration, but you've just now inspired me! At least know you are not alone!
Donating them is a fantastic idea.
Now just wish me luck on getting DH to part with a few of them...

You know I don't have a clutter of movies, but I'm bad about stuffing things out of sight in drawers and cabinets! Luckily we got our home cleaned out this weekend, along with a brand spankin' new color on our bedroom walls!!! Yes! How refreshing!

It is nice to know that I am not alone!
Ooh there is some inspiration: fixing up the house!
Hey, we could swap our decluttered movies. Oh wait, that isn't exactly decluttering is it? .

I was going to donate our VHS movies to a charity shop (we moved house a few months ago, so I had a huge clear-out at the time) - the thing is, the charity shop wouldn't take them They have crazy rules about things now - only brand name clothes, for example! Is it like that where you are?
I'm thinking of just freecycle-ing my movies now.
Good luck with your clear-out! Those things take up so much space, don't they.

Less to pick up
You guys can do it! De-cluttering feels so good and just think, it is less you will have to pick up!
Sincerely,
