Default Dental problems

Is anyone else experiencing dental problems at this point in thier pregnancy?

I'm at the point where I am getting severe pain in my molars on both sides of my mouth. I can't eat without them starting to hurt, and the pain can get bad enough that I'm forced to take a tylenol, put some orajel on them and then lay down and close my eyes.

Every time I try and make an appointment with the dentist, I've been told to come in early and see if there is any cancellations (I have to go to a community clinic becasue I don't have ***********, but I cannot take enough time off of work to sit and wait there- at least until after June 12th (I work at the school my kids go to, and their last day is June 12). So I'm in between a rock and a hard place.

I'm having some issues not as bad as yours but I didn't think it was safe to go while pregnant. Please keep me updated when you find out. GL, I hope everything works out. : )

I was told that if I didn't get at least a routine checkup and cleaning during the pregnancy that they couldn't know if I have any serious dental problems that could cause harm to the fetus. Some dental decay could cause developmental problems with the fetus if not treated immediately.

I have an appointment this monday to have a couple teeth deep cleaned to get rid of some of the decay. That is what my problem was- I have 5 molars that have gotten to a stage of decay that the roots are exposed. That's why I've been in pain so much. I've been having problems with them since before I got pregnant, but the pregnancy has made the decay accelerate.

Talk to your DR about getting a dental referral. The DR will let the dentist know what is safe for you to take if you need any work done.

When I was pregnant, I had to take antibiotics for a bad tooth.

As was pointed out in the post above me, decaying teeth can pose a threat to a fetus, and sometimes the antibiotics are just safer. I felt alot better after.

I hope you feel better soon! Toothaches are the worst!
