Default Dental work???

I have an odd question.
Right around Christmas I either cracked a tooth or a filling or something. The problem is that I didn't do anything about it because it was 2 days before Christmas and our company had just gotten there, bla bla bla......well by the time 3 weeks of 3 different sets of company have come and gone, it hadn't been bothering me much and I had forgetten about it.
Well, now it is killing me. I don't know if I am preggers yet, too early to test. In fast it is only 3 days past ovulation. So should I even be concerned about the dentist? Should I just go and get it over with. Or since I may be preggers do I have to wait to find out and if I am wait till the second trimester????
I know it is going to entail xrays, and removal of a very large "silver"colored filling. (mercury??)
And I am a big baby so novacaine or whatever they use.
So the question is would it be safe to go in now, or should I wait? I definatley don't want to risk hurting the baby if there is one, but I don't want to be heading to another root canal either.

I got a root canal and two deep fillings done while pregnant. I declined dental Xrays (even though they are probably safe since the level of radiation is so low), but took amoxacillin for the infection and tylenol and codeine for pain afterwards. They also froze the area no problem (in fact, they gave me three needles), and obviously little Norah isn't any worse for the wear

The risk of infection due to it not being done is actually more harmful to you and the fetus (or in this case embryo). That, and you don't even know definitively if you are pregnant. I would go get it done, but tell your dentist that you may be pregnant. She may want to do things a bit differently.

GL!! Tooth pain sucks

I would go and have the dentist check it out. Let the dentist know right away that you might be pregnant.

I know my dentist wanted to see me for my regular check up when I was around 15 weeks pregnant to make sure I did not have any infections. They did not do x-rays, but they cleaned my teeth real good and checked everything over.

It doesn't hurt to just get it checked out.

this reminds me of BOTH my DD's....with both before I missed my periods I went to the dentist and both times had X-Rays, both times had antibiotics for an infection in my gums (over my wisdom teeth, that now they are saying I dont have ) and set up surgerys to have the wisdom teeth out. Both appts had to be postponed until after I delivered, although they said the X-Rays wouldnt hurt because of the low radiation and i wore the vest thingy. I would just call, some dentists prob do things differently

I would def. check with the dentist. If they can get you in right away (before implantation) then things shouldn't be a problem. Just avoid xrays...but even that might not be a big deal... Good luck!

I had work done with Katlyn fillings and xrays, used the vest. With Kelli he had to remove a lose filling and refilled it, They both came out ok! I have always kept my appoinment preggers or not.

That is VERY true! My mother is a dental assistant. She forced me to go in at 10 weeks pregnant b/c I was having tooth pain. She told me that an infection could hurt the baby more then anything they would do to me in her office. I refused x-rays but ended up not needing any work done. Just call the office and let them know you may be pregnant but you really need to get that taken care of!

Thank you so much! I am going to call them tomorrow. They are closed Friday through Monday so by the time they could get me in on Monday or later maybe I will know if I am pg or not!
Thank you!!!
