As someone who just celebrated birthday number 60, I can tell you it is sort of depressing to know you're on the downhill side of things.

I keep remembering, however, what Paul Newman said as his life was closing. "I had a good time."

Default Talk with your health care professional

Also the most important thing is to talk with your health care professional. If u are depressed, they can get them the help that they needs as depression in the elderly is very common!!

Meditation is proved be a very effective solution for depression. There are so many studies done to prove the theory.
Specially breathing exercise can help a lot to reduce depression.

This is an issue in my father's family. We were told the key was to keep them active and not just let him sit at home all the time.

Elderly people are vulnerable for depression as they most often have to spend their lonely life away from the affection, love & warmth of their children & grand children. Demise of a soul mate can further aggravate the condition. This needs serious attention worldwide especially with the trend of families getting more and more nuclear whilst the steady increasing of aging population.

Depression is a result of complex life style. People trend to live a complex and busy life style. They dont have time to think about life. They spend their whole life to earn. If they learn to live happily from what they have, they can win the depression.

Default Re: Depression in the Elderly

ya, this information proved really helpful to me overcoming my anxiety, thanx to you!
Seems like you are overworked, well if you hear heartbeats(palpitations) as you are in silence, there could be few things like Hypertension, anxiety, sinus tachycardia...none to worry too much..Check out with a physician to see your pulse and do a cardiogram...In meantime cut down on your coffee/tea intake,cheese,tobacco,alcohol...and take a deep breath and relaaax...You should be fine....

Take care....
