Hello My name is Charla I just found this forum seems like no one is responsing anymore but I will post anyway. I am a mother of 2 at again 27. Before I had children I was 110lbs but that was at 18. When I was pregnant with my son my pregnancy weigh was 123lb but after he was born I stood on the scale 3 days later and realized that it was all baby I was back to 113.5lb. I was young so I expected that. August 2001 I weigh 120 and I thought it great I just wanted 10 more pounds. I became pregnant with my daughter andmy pregnancy weight was 135lb That was great for me too but again I soon to find out that it was all baby again. In 2004 I noticed I started gaining weight like I wanted too but in all the wrong places (the middle) I would 142. Now in 2008 I am a whopping 160lb and I am not happy at all. I weigh more now than at anytime.
I have tried numerous diets and can not continue them. Crazy thing is if I am not on a diets I only eat 1 meal aday or maybe 2 but if I am trying to diet then I am soooo hungry that I can not stand it. I have tried weigh loss pills sucj as dexatrim but it made me jittery and I have tried slim fast. I keep continuing to gain weigh in the middle only. My limbs seem small and no one believe I weigh as much as I so. I truly look 6-9 months pregnant. I have been asked on numerous occasion when is the baby due and that hurts.
I am suffering everyday I look at myself in the mirror I get depressed. I have not shopped for clothes in awhile because it is depressing to have to go froma size 7/8 to 13/14. My mom tries to be supporting by say you are getting older so do not expect to wear junior size anymore you should be in ladies because that is what you are. My husband does not understand he thinks I am perfect just the way I am and does not understand why I would like to lose weight. He believes if I do 100+ crunches a night I will loss that belly fat in no time. I have tried that as well and back pain in not for me. His logic no pain no gain so we got a gym membership and even the kids do crunches, situps, and pushup.
Sorry, to bore everyone but I really need to vent. I have no idea what is wrong with me. Someone HELP!

Hey there, and welcome!

It has been pretty quiet over here -- Lisa had a baby, I'm major busy these days and I'm not sure where everyone else went, but I know they're out there!

First off, there's nothing wrong with you! You have a challenge to overcome, but there's nothing wrong with you, okay?

Second, I don't know if it makes you feel any better, but I've got a hundred pounds on you.

If you're gaining weight in the middle but your limbs are still thin, to be honest, my first thought is to send you in to the doctor and just rule out that there's something abdominal that needs to be looked at. Generally speaking, when we gain weight, it's here and there, not just in one spot. I'm not trying to freak you out or anything but you could have something going on that should be looked at.

As far as the hunger goes, Lisa helped me out with this a while back and I don't see a reply from her yet, so I'll reply! What you need is more protein. There's this awesome stuff at Walmart called Body Fortress protein powder. You mix it up in a little milk and drink it down -- it's yummy -- and each glass will give you 50 g. of protein, if you use two scoops like I do. Lisa says you should have 1 g. of protein for every pound you weigh -- I don't think I will ever be able to slurp down that much, but I do find that the more protein I eat, the less hungry I get and I have more stamina.

Glad you're here, and I think we can happily resurrect the group -- thanks for waking us up!

Welcome, new friend!

I'm here. I'm just dealing with a computer crash and not around much this week.
Tristi is absolutely right - you should see a doctor because when you gain weight, it should be an all-over thing. There is no such thing as "spot reduction" or "spot gaining".

Adding more protein to your diet is a great place to start. Try to consume 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight (or at least your goal body weight). I just posted an article about protein and weight loss. You can read it here: http://weight-loss.families.com/blog/protein-and-weight-loss

Again, welcome!

What??

Lisa, I didn't realize it was per pound of your *goal* weight -- I've been trying to eat one gram of my *real* weight. No wonder I could never do it -- I'm one heavy chicky and I never succeeded. My goal weight, on the other hand, I can do that!

I like having the protein drink once a day -- any more than that is too much for me. Then I eat an egg or some cheese or some meat -- I can't really tolerate nuts all that well, but there are some great protein sources out there. I'm also learning to tell the difference between low blood sugar and low protein. Sometimes I think I'm having a sugar crash when I'm really having a protein crash, so I know what to eat. It's a pretty handy little trick.

And since my goal weight is 150, I think I can manage that many grams. You've taken a huge load off me, Lisa!

Hey, see my ticker?
