You definately did the right thing, the violence will only get worse if he displays this behaviour, coming from personal experience and not realizing how wrong it was until the violence was too bad and then was happening in front of my 18 month old. I left and didn't look back, I thought control was bacause he cared soooo much, wrong. Take care and stay safe.
