The new child support thread got me thinking...My ex has requested 3 hearings so far to have his child support lowered (its only $133 a month..geez). He figures since he isn't working and homeless,, he shouldn't have to pay anything.

My question is this. How many of these hearings can he request? he hasn't showed up to any of them, and the case gets tossed out. When will the judge say "enough" and quit granting his requests? Never? Will this go on and on?

Just curious if anyone knows about a limit on requests. Thanks!

I really have no idea Jean but I'm sorry he keeps making you go to his no show hearings. I would not be surprised if they keep granting his requests for a hearing and then when he finally does show up....ream him out and rule against him. I can't imagine the judge(s) enjoy having thier time wasted.

I think it depends on your state. Some states do allow judges to impose a limit.

Since he has been ordered to pay, and has not done so, and has filed continuance after continuance and not shown up, eventually the judge will issue a bench warrant, and depending on enforcement in your state, the sheriff's dept may become involved to arrest him.

Since somehow he manages to show up to smash up your car and break into your house, this should be a legal no brainer, but some of these judges are nuts.
