Default Do You Have a Guardian Angel?

Do you have a guardian angel?

How do you know?

What we call "Guardian Angels" are the angels Jesus referred to in Matthew 18:10 --
"See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven"

Heb 1:14 where it says of angels: "Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?"

Psalm 91:11-12
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

There is one more Bible verse about angels, that I cannot locate this morning. It is about angels and Baptism. I'll keep searching for it.

The movie, "Michael" features John Travolta as a guardian angel.
(I just love John Travolta in this movie....ok in just about every movie he has made.)

The 1946 film "It's a Wonderful Life" features a guardian angel.

Another American TV Series "Touched By An Angel" that was from 1994 - 2003 was about three guardian angels helping others.

This is the traditional Catholic prayer to one's guardian angel:

Angel of God, my guardian dear
to whom God's love commits me here.
Ever this day/night be at my side
to light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen

An Eastern Orthodox prayer to the Guardian Angel:

O Angel of Christ, my holy Guardian and Protector of my soul and body, forgive me all my sins of today. Deliver me from all the wiles of the enemy, that I may not anger my God by any sin. Pray for me, sinful and unworthy servant, that thou mayest present me worthy of the kindness and mercy of the All-holy Trinity and the Mother of my Lord Jesus Christ, and of all the Saints. Amen.

As a Lutheran, we do not have a specific prayer to our guardian angel.
But we do pray,
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

What are your thoughts?
