Default Does it seem like family has lost it's value?

As a person and a nurse I have noticed how family doesn't seem all that important to some people. I can't comprehend how people can treat their families as if they were insignificant, but then I was born into a family that was very close and they remain the most important part of my life. The only thing that I can come up with is that people put their families on the back burner do to the fast pace lifestyles led today. What are your thoughts on this?
I'm trying to gather some information on this so if you could, please respond and take a moment to take the polls on my blog, Net Chattering - Contemplating Life @ http://netchattering.blogspot.com/. I would appreciate it and thank you ahead of time for participating! While you are there you could follow me if you would like and I will reciprocate by doing the same. - Sincerly, Sheila

A lot of families, don't act like families anymore, or what I consider family to be. Things like divorce seem to be considered the norm now, people even consider a five year marriage that ends in divorce to be good and long lasting!

I think being close to your family is really important, to me not bothering to go and see your grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins etc on a regular basis just seems really odd to me, so many people I know, just don't care, they see each other once a year at most and thats just that.

I have recently moved, which is a few hours from family, but I still see my family at least once a month which I know isn't enough, I have friends that live in the same town as their family and they consider it too much of an effort or a chore to take the time to spend time together a couple of times a year.

All people do who neglect their family is show your kids that its okay not to care.
