[wanna be a young mother]

All day yesterday Nevy had been running a low grade fever. I figured she was FINALLY teething but I was wrong!


I gave her some Tylenol at 9pm at that point her fever was 101.4F!
At around 11pm her fever hit 103.1F (with Tylenol) so I called her Ped. and she told us to go to the ER right away!

The nurse took her temp which was at 102.9(rectal) and gave her some Motrin. Then she ran back to get a Dr. This is the first time I didnt have to wait to be seen. So that scared the living daylights out of me! They admitted us right away and stripped her down to her diaper. Took her blood pressure which was normal and then took her temp again which was at 102.8F. The nurse gave us some cold water and told us to her to try and drink it. Which she did b/c Nevy loves water. They took her temp again about 30mins later and it was 101.8F. The Dr. came in to see her and we told her that she hasn't been exposed to anyone who is sick and that she WASN'T pulling at her ears. They did an exam but when they got to her ears Nevy freaked out (she always hates Dr.'s looking in them). So we had to hold her down. The Dr. looked at both ears and said "Well I found the problem!" She has a severe double ear infection!

I couldn't believe it b/c she showed no signs that her ears were bugging her. The only sign was her fever! So they wanted to give her a high dose of an antibiotic and watch her. I guess b/c she is young and it was a pretty strong antibiotic they wanted to make sure she didnt get a reaction. So by the time we got home it was 5am.

She is still running a high fever (101.7F right now) but the Dr. said unless it hits 103F again to just keep giving her Motrin and Tylenol. My poor baby looks horrible! All she wants to do is sit on my lap and whine. Her cheeks are cherry red she's so hot! I hate this feeling like I cant do anything for her! Well I hope her fever stays down tonight b/c another trip to the ER will kill Dh! He had to leave for work as soon as we got home! So he hasn't slept in 24hrs!
