Default Easter Baskets?

Do you make an Easter basket for your kids? What do you put in them??? Do you hide it?

I decided to start doing one this year for my son. I really didn't want to get candy to put in it so I looked for other ideas. I think he'll have the most fun playing with the plastic eggs but I also got him a matchbox car, two coloring books, a book, bubbles, and the DVD Cars - I got the previewed version for sale really cheap! I also picked up some bunny shaped marshmallows as an alternative to candy too. I don't think I'll hide it this year, but probably next year when he is 2.

I get mini eggs and place them around the yard for my eldest kids and they go on an egghunt on easter morning before mass then after mass they come home and i have they're easter present out on the kitchen table usually a DVD or story book or Barbie i don't like giving too much candy to my kids and they're usually much happier with a little present!!! my mom does easter baskets for all her grandkids and she usually puts some candy and craft sets (last year was make your own frames craft sets) and then usually a book.

I got baskets for the girls, and have been doing it since Heike was born. I get non-food things, like small books, or hair accessories. This year, with my husband laid off, we had a budget of $10 for Easter, and it's surprising how it goes a long way. (Heike loves Smarties, so we got a box of those in the Easter colours.)

We give our kids empty Easter baskets and let them fill them with the eggs from an egg hunt. We hide the eggs we colored, plus eggs filled with non-candy goodies, plus Resurrection eggs. When everybody finds all the eggs, we go ahead and sit around and use the eggs to tell the story of Easter.

The Easter Bunny leaves baskets here, but doesn't hide them. There is only a small amount of candy in the basket, a chocolate bunny and maybe one other thing, like peeps. The rest of it is usually things like hair accessories, a book, something religious in nature, art supplies and a stuffed bunny. We do an egg hunt but they know that I hide those eggs. We do it outside a little later in the day with cousins. I fill plastic eggs with candy, which is why there is barely any in the basket. We color eggs and do Easter crafts on Saturday.

We got my stepsons baskets this year and put stuff for us to do outside together in them, found a bunch of stuff for $1, like each a spiderman kite, frisbee, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, airplanes that fly with a zinger thing...then each got a kids baseball bat and ball, and a spiderman bubble blower, and a stuffed bunny......we got plastic eggs and filled with candy, so no candy in their baskets.

We have a very sneaky bunny in our house. He leaves clues to where my dd basket is. She loves to read the clues to find the basket. We leave a chocoate bunny in her room with the first clue then she goes from their. We usually just put fun lillle things in there for her. A Dvd and hair ties, play jewelry.
This year my two year old is getting new Jammies in his. He really needs them and I thought it would be cute!
