Default Electric fence...36 weeks...major anxiety

I own horses and today I accidentally touched the electric fence around the horse pasture. It scared me to death and I went to my Dr. today for a check-up. They did fetal monitoring and said everything was ok but I still have a lot of anxiety about it. So much so that I almost passed out when they hooked me up to the monitor. Any other 1st time mommies super anxious? Truthfully...I was an only child and have never even held a baby before! I am super scared about birth and being responsible for such a miracle. And to top it all off my husband is super relaxed about being a dad...which makes me more anxious.

if the doctors say you're okay -- then you're probably a-oh-kay. try to relax. normally i don't "promote" child classes, but i think it might calm your nerves if you took a child caring class. they're probably offered for free or cheap at your hospital or YMCA.

Glad you went in for a check-over and both you and baby are doing just fine! Probably scared you just silly! Please stay away from the electric fence until after you give birth.

Every first time mother feels the same way.

I recall, after the birth of DS#1, I was in the hospital the next AM thinking to myself, "What am I going to do with this baby now? Like I needed a plan right then for the next 18 years for my son!" Looking back, I was just having anxiety.

You may feel better if you take a parenting class, my dear.

If that is not possible, get a good book, or read more online. Do you have a friend with a baby? You could spend a morning or afternoon together.

Newborns, they sleep quite a bit for 1, 2, 3, 4 hours at a stretch. You feed them, burp/bubble them, change them, sing to them, bathe them, rock them, put them to sleep. Then do the entire thing again.

The first bit, it will be all you need to be doing. You care for baby and yourself. Let others (family or friends) help you out. DH can help do chores and parent right along with you.

Mothering comes second nature quickly. You allready care for horses, and do that well. You will be a wonderful mother!

When you hold that little baby in your arms for the very first time,
it will seem like a miracle to you. Suddenly this little baby is born
and you love that baby with your whole heart. A Mother's love for her newborn is very, very strong!

Obviously, it is a much different love than husband/wife love.

Let us know how things go!

my classes start Tuesday night. I feel better now that husband is home. When you are alone from 8 to 5 your imagination just spirals!
