Default Eliot and Elise's Birth Story!

Hey Guys!

It has been one week since I logged on to Families, and let me say, I miss you guys and I hope I didnt miss any big news! I hope everybody is doing well!

Well here goes: Everything went very well on Tuesday. DH is who logged on for me to post the birth announcement and the pictures, and I agree, he did a wonderful job with those pictures! The c-section went off without a hitch and the babies did great from the get go. They latched well and breastfed wonderfully from just a half hour after their birth. We did hit a small block in the road when they developed jaundice and needed phototherapy for a day or so. My milk took a long time to come in, and we had to start formula supplements after every feeding. There was a good reason my milk didnt come in though: turns out I lost a lot of blood during the surgery. My uterus would not contract and continued to bleed so I was given injections during the surgery to make my uterus clamp down. My hematocrit went from 33 to 17. Once I got two units of blood I felt a lot better, but I didnt get the blood until Saturday. My milk came in on Sunday.

Our life goes like this: Nurse the babies (usually at the same time), supplement with formula or breastmilk, pump, rest/do dishes/laundry/eat for an hour and repeat. It is completely exhausting and I am loving every minute of it. We went to the pediatrician today for a check up and the babies are gaining weight well, and will hopefully be back to their birth weights soon. He said we could stop the formula supplements when ever we want. I should be getting a hospital pump tonight or tomorrow, and that should help us as well.

The babies are absolutely amazing and I couldnt be luckier or happier! I promise to check in as often as possible! I hope everybody is well!

Happy to hear everything went so smoothly Allison...even with the set back.. that everybody rallied and is doing well!!! You have 2 beautiful blessings in your arms now and I couldn't be happier for you!!! I hope that you are indeed finding time to rest and allow your body to recoup/heal...listen to your body and don't push yourself..the dishes will still be there or better yet maybe somebody else can do them!!

Enjoy those babes and look forward to hearing from you when you can pop on..my computer time is limited now too..and I wouldn't have it any other way either!!!

(((((HUGS)))) for you and those babes of yours!!!
