Default Ever like a name....

only to look up the meaning and wonder if your child will ask why you named them when it meant that. Dh and I bought like 30 different baby names books when i was pg with Jaxon. I love Braxton as a name but could see how it would be difficult and easy to get tongue tied when saying both Jaxon and Braxton. So then we said well Braedon is similar and we both liked it but it means Resembleing Salmon.

I think it really depends on what language your looking under. I know a few names that have different meanings in different languages. Here are some examples for Braedon....

Irish-English Meaning: Broad hillside
http://babiesonline.com/babynames/in...p?name=Braedon

Irish-Gaelic Meaning: Salmon
http://www.babynamesgarden.com/name_boy.aspx?id=9417

English Meaning: Brave
http://wiki.name.com/en/Braden

The most common meaning I've found is the last one (Brave, Broad and wide). HTH

Yeah it can be surprising that is why we research our baby names before the little munchies are born, lol

my worry with not knowing the meaning is that my child will look up their own name and be like WTF mom and dad what the heck were you thinking. I love lots of names and cant help but want to use them regardless of their meanings. DH and I were cleaning out our closets and we came across this box labled Junk and found our first name list its amazing to me that none of those names are on my list anymore. I LOVED those names I would doodle them all over paper when I was bored and now I dont know if I want them

We gave our oldest daughter, Heike (hi-kah), a German name (being my family is Polish and German and I liked the German names better than the Polish ones), and the poor thing gets "land owner" as a meaning. Besides that, it was only ever in ONE baby name book (Oxford Dictionary of First Names)!

I know, it's so hard!
I am due in 6 days and despite all the names we've went through and thought we decided on , they all got thrown out the window.
So we're still clueless.

Good luck!!
