I am THRILLED to see what Extreme Makeover Home Edition is doing for a daycare provider - It shows that what the family does is very important in their community, but acknowledges that they do not make enough money to actually keep the home in the condition it needs to be in for safe living and safe child care.

They had a serious mold problem which affected the health of one of the children - and in order to continue childcare, they had to correct it - but mold remediation is expensive. No money for that - and nothing to replace their income or the place in their community for home based child care. So it would have been another one of those "shut down the substandard home daycare facility" feel good we got em stories - except for Home Makeover edition.

They've really done a great job of involving the community, and designing a space that the family can live in and provide service in - and not have the wear and tear that most traditional homes have when you do family childcare.

It is so nice to see something positive about home daycare providers on primetime television. Finally.
