Family Fun - Bought a Nintendo Wii
Hello Everyone,
I am a 51 year old mother of 2. A 23 year old son and a 17 year old son.
It seems that every couple of years a new game console comes out that your children must have. I don't remember how many times I've bought a console, I remember a Playstation, a Playstation 2, a Nintendo 64 and a bunch of others.
Well this year my 17 year old son wanted a Nintendo Wii. Just getting my hands on one was a huge task; they seem to be sold out everywhere.
On Christmas morning I expected him to disappear into his bed room and play his Wii, and only come out for food for the next few months. He did the exact opposite. He connected the Wii to the family room TV and showed everyone how much fun it was.
It seems this one game Wii Sports has slightly brought our family back together again. My older son has moved into his own home and he is regularly over playing the Wii with all of us. Even I who doesn't really enjoy video games am in love with the fun Wii Sports has brought to the family.

Has anyone else had the same experience? If not I highly recommend you try a Wii out.

Welcome to the board!
Yes, our family bought a Wii at Christmas time. DH and the boys love playing the games together.
Me? I played once. Does not really interest me at this point.
But, it is good seeing all three of my guys playing together.
Family bonding.

I have a certain hatred for video games! My dad became addicted for many years, stayed up all night playing and slept all day. He wouldn't let any of us touch the t.v. and if we were watching something and he wanted to be on his game, he'd stop speaking to us.
Other's stories may not be extreme like this but it is important, in my opinion for it to be done in moderation. Extreme moderation.

I love our Wii.....Nintendo did a wonderful job with the games...there a tons of family oriented ones that we paly together I do recommed getting it. Most of the games are family games and nintendo does not have many violent games as the Playstation and the X-box.

It's not the sort of thing you hide in your room with. For one thing, you need room!
I understand the problem of having a parent addicted to video games. I have friends who have this problem, and don't admit it. All things in moderation for sure!

You will think I'm crazy.... I know, but I waited in line at Wal-Mart on Saturday night to get our Wii .
I had heard through the grapevine that they would be getting some in and that they would be selling them at 12:01am on the 6th. So, I did it...I waited in line for this thing, and it was worth EVERY minute of the wait!!
This is like nothing I've ever played before, it really is fun for the whole family! Our 4 year old loves to "hit" the baseballs and "throw" the bowling ball. I totally agree, it has brought us together as a family.
I also pre ordered Wii Fit, it is out in Japan right now, but they won't be releasing it in the US till May I was hoping it would come out sooner than that, but best things come to those who wait, right?

When the playstation III and the Wii came out Fall 2006, my husband stood in line to get them. Well, he ended up selling the playstation III and keeping the Wii. We love it. Christmas 2006 the whole family was playing, even his grandparents. We regularly get together with his brother and sister in-law to play. Now his brother has a Wii and my cousin's family has one. With some of the games they can play each other through wireless internet, which is nice since we do live an hour from his brother and about 5 hours from my cousin's family.

We are both nintendo fans as all the other consoles and the games are inferior, we have had our Wii just over a year, we still love it, thankfully we don't get Wii arm anymore. Mikey tried to play bowling but he kept throwing the remote at the tv, so it was a big no after that.
