Family Game Night Creates Lifelong Memories
From the time I was 12 until I was 18, Friday nights were family game night. While there were four kids, the two younger ones would play their own game, while my brother (a year younger) and I would play Rook with Mom and Dad.
Before the game began we'd have tacos (non-hispanic, Michigan...don't ask) and Pepsi. Then we'd play a rousing game of partners; Dad and Gary vs Mom and I. It was a time of laughter and family togetherness, that only ended when I left for college.
While we had a television, we didn't spend our evenings glued to the tube. I would recommend parents to turn off the tv, power down the computer and dig out the cards. Not only is a family game night fun, but it will let your kids get to know you and alow you all to communicate in a relaxed and non-threatening venue.
