Our son is 2 (three in July).
Some times we have done things where he may not understand 100% but he still enjoys it and it makes him ask questions, and we're pretty new to FHE with kids so we're learning all the time,

.
Some of our favourites have been :
The Temple - I'm going there Someday
We looked at colouring pictures and used family photos to talk about the Temple.
In our family there are a lot of non-members so we showed him that when he is older he will be baptised at Church, but as Nanna (my Grandmother) already lives with Heavenley Father and can't be baptised at Church we will have to go to the Temple and help her be baptised.
We showed photos of our wedding too, now the first thing he tells people when he sees a picture of or hears people talking about the Temple is "I'm going to get married there".
We had mini gingerbread men with white icing clothes on them for a treat.
We were amazed at how much he understood.
We are Sons and Daughters of our Heavenly Father.
We spoke about Heavenly Father being the King and us being Princes and Princesses and that everyone is special.
We made and wore paper crowns (he wore his everday til it broke lol, shouting "I'm a prince!")
We taught him how Jesus is our older brother, and we should follow His example, just like he needs to set a good example for his baby brother or sister when they are born.
We had biscuits with Crowns iced on them for our treat.
Sundays and Sundaes.
We spoke about appropriate things to do on Sundays (like he can only watch certain videos etc, not his usual cartoons etc)
We made ice-cream sundaes. I laid out a table of toppings.
One side had chos sauce, nuts, fruit etc
The other side had Ketchup (which he loves), mayonaise, tomatoes etc
I asked him if he wanted ketchup on his sundae and he pulled a face.
We then explained even though we like something it might not be right on a sundae, the same as some things being not right to do on a Sunday.
We ate the sundaes as our treats (minus ketchup of course,

)
Lehi and his family go into the wilderness:
We did this one with friends and their children of the same age.
We used old pillowcases with holes cut out for arms and head, with a rope belt and headtie as costumes.
We had them bring a favourite toy from home.
We then read about Lehi and his family leaving their home to go into the wilderness as God commanded.
We made them trek in their costumes to the wilderness (a dining table made into a tent), but they had to leave their favourite toy behind.
We asked them how it felt to have to leave it.
The kids loved dressing up and we read and repeated scriptures, sang some songs, and had treats.
Generally our son loves to sing the songs, he has already learned some really important things from them, scriptures are a bit difficult to remember at their age but repetition of songs works great.
We've had friends dress up and do noah's ark, then play animal snap and have animal biscuits for a treat.
David and Goliath would be a good one to do - have a cardboard cutout to knock over, tell them even though they are little there is a lot they can do, with God's help.
We have found the sharing time outline to be really helpful too.
We try now to follow the monthly themes and use those for FHE. They include songs, a scripture and activity ideas. (You can get them free from the distribution centre).
Thanks for the Jericho idea, we will definately use that one - and sorry for going on for sooooooo long
