Saw this article and thought I would share. What do you think?

Most of their suggestions are identical to eating right whether you are trying to conceive or not. Just common sense nutrient intake. As for the sweets they mentioned, everything in moderation. Not matter how good or bad for you take everything in moderation and you'll be fine.

I've had some great healthy diets and some that are so full of junk food it isn't funny and anything in between. I've never had any fertility issues. With my second and third babies it took nearly a year to get pregnant. Our first was a surprise. I was off an on birth control for 2 years. And it only took 3 months to get preggo with #4. I've never once changed my diet or habits while TTC other than stop taking any contraceptives.

I could ramble forever but I won't. I just don't think these 'fertility foods' are strictly for fertility.

Did you drink coffee during pregnancy? If not at what point did you stop? I'm really having a hard time cutting back on the coffee but, I'm worried about when I should quit drinking it, during the two week wait, after I get a positive test, now?

I watched this this morning and thought Hmmm, the night Emma was conceived I had drank about 4 starbucks coffees (earlier in the day) and 1/2 bottle of rum (we were on vacation). I'm a coffee-aholic and drank at least 4 cups every day.

My doc told me I could still have 1-2 8 ounce cups every day if I chose to. I'm sure that varies from doctor to doctor.

"They want to decrease caffeine intake, alcohol and tobacco,"
That was posted all over my REI's office. We were told that all the time while TTC. We also had to take the prenatal with the DHA pill (omega 3).

As for coffee during pregnancy... I was told to limit caffeine to 2 (8oz) cups. That went for coffee and soda. I'm not a big coffee person so I stopped drinking it period and I just drank 2 cans of soda a day until I developed GD and had to drink diet (caffeine free).

I think it makes sense in general. A nutritionist and stress management counselor once told me that caffeine keeps your body from absorbing vitamins from food or your multi-vitamin. She told me that people pop a vitamin in the morning and then drink a cup of coffee which then negates the whole vitamin...so this made me think "I need all the vitamins I can get" so I stopped with the caffeine (so hard). And I drink caffeine free coke now (not that good for you, but gives me a fix when I feel like having a soda!) I used to eat all these healthy foods and have caffeine here or there...without realizing that those healthy foods weren't being the full benefit as long as caffeine was there. Now if I can get a bean to stick more than a few days I'll be in business!
