Default fighting sleep

So Parker is 4 months old, and has always been really great with sleeping. But just recently he has started fighting his sleep during the day. I mean you can see his tired, and his eyes are closed, but he screams and cries, almost like he's trying to keep himself awake. Any suggestions or reasons why he might be doing this!?

Emma does this every couple of days. She will have a day when she wakes up at 8:30am and won't go back to sleep until 9 or so that night. Personally I think she is just too darn nosey to go to sleep.

I don't really have any suggestions becuse I think I have tried just about everything and nothing works on Emma (letting her cry for a few minutes in her bed, giving her a warm bath, rocking, nursing, etc.). I just keep telling myself "this is just a phase, this is just a phase"

I can only suggest walking him around till he falls asleep. Or rocking. My kids seemed to be soothed more by pacing the floors.

Vinnie went through that at the same age... The only thing that would work is if I put him over my shoulder and bounced and sang Jack and Jill... I have no idea why Good luck! Hope he starts sleeping for you!

My DS did the same thing at about the same age. My friends were amazed he didn't nap, but like you, I tried everything. He went from that to taking TWO naps a day for months. THAT was nice!!! I hope you're as lucky and that this phase passes quickly.

This is something that everyone said not to do, but the pediatrition said as long as we were in the room it was ok......we had to put Tiffy on her belly. ( I know this is horrible, but it worked!!) We had a long, narrow pillow, and we put it under her belly, and sometimes even a warm-hot water bottle for her belly, but if she was on her belly with her paci in her mouth she couldn't help but fall asleep. This was the ONLY way she would nap. She slept in the play pen like that. and we would check on her every 2 minutes to make sure she was breathing, because everyone said not to do it cuz of sids. We started that at 2 months old, tummy for naps and back for night. (I don't know why she didn't mind the back at night)
Sorry I rambled on and on, I just know that this saved us.

Sam is doing this right now also...he'll be 5 months soon. He screams no matter what sometimes and sometimes if I lay down and turn him towards me and lay with him for a few minutes he'll stop but not always and sometimes we have to let him cry it out... I hate that too.

As soon as DS could roll over (about 2 months) he slept on his belly, no matter which position I put him in. I stopped fighting it.

Until 10 yrs or so ago moms (including mine!) were told to put their babies to sleep on their bellies. I tried not to stress about it too much.
