Well at first BFing was going so well (in fact most m/w and nurses at the hospital all thought that i had had children before) but then my milk came in and now we are having a little latch issue, nothing too major just the area around the nipple gets sore, it's only really on the right side so i think the issue is more with me than her but it's getting better. She had a bit of jauntice when we left the hospital but that's better now; was had to tell if it was jauntice at first cos her skin has a little yellow tint to it anyway; she has a dipple on her back near her buttocks, fairly deep but the dr's keep saying it's fine, and a
mongolian spot, mainly due to her asian hertiage, in almost the same spot... M/W came out last sunday and weigh her (without clothes), she was 2695 grams, so only a 35 gram lost
We went to the dr yesterday, was suppose to have gone earlier in the week but i had to walk up to the dr and i thought it was too windy for that; jauntice is gone, she is now 3.3kg (with clothes on), 52 cm long and head is 33cm (was 31)
have trouble with her sleeping every time we have visitors, not sure if it's to do with being over stimulated because of the visitors or due to being a little spoiled by the visitors (going asleep in arms, rocked etc)... i've tried from the start to teach her to self settle by putting her to bed as soon as she seems sleepy and if she does cry i'll let her cry it out for a while before picking her back up, not sure if i'm doing the right thing there but she does usually go to sleep on her own
she does this cutest little laugh, i know it's not really a laugh (i think it's due to wind) but it's so cute
General on me: Sleep was bad right at first, i hadn't been getting a lot of sleep just before labour, then i didn't sleep for the whole time i was in labour (well little naps between contraction but all they really did was rested me up for the next contraction and pushing) then all i got in the first day was about an hour and half then that night i had about 5 hrs (broken sleep) then after that i was lucky to get a few hours here and there, i couldn't sleep well at the hospital to begin with, worst during the day with all the sounds plus then there was an almost constant stream of visitors and then Gabby didn't sleep much during the night, so by Saturday night/sunday morning i just sort of crashed from lack of sleep plus baby blues had kicked it, luckily i had my parents, so they took Gabby while i got some sleep, only waking me to feed her... things are settling down now, baby blues seem to have just about gone, sometimes i feel a little down (not depressed just not exactly happy, although that could just be due to lack of sleep and energy), Gabby sleeps most nights, only waking for feeds (she feeds usually every 3 to 4 hours but sometimes she will go 5, and usually she will have the longer gaps between feeds during the night)
