First Halloween costume
Ok, so I am extremely excited about Halloween this year because a) my daughter is old enough to appreciate it more, and b) I can get her a cute costume! (last year she was too small for one)
So I have been brainstorming what to dress her up as.
What did you do for your little one's first (if they were a year or older) Halloween? Better yet, did you dress up to match them?

No I did not dress to match. My kids had unique ideas about what they were supposed to be for Halloween.
The first year, my oldest son (then toddler age) wanted to be the "O'Rocky Kid". After quite a bit, I realized he was saying "Karate Kid". So I dressed him up in a kimono with a little band on his head, he wore sandals and went to a party in our co op building, and that was just fine. He strode up and down the hall shouting "TRICKATREAT! OROCKY!"
The following year he wanted to be Bob Dog from Mr Rogers Neighborhood. So I sewed him a dog costume.
Then things got weird because he discovered Star Trek. He still dresses up for Halloween and whenever he feels like it. He is 22. He believes in Vulcans.
The younger one as a toddler wore an angel costume cobbled together from several other costumes for his first trick or treat. I had made this too, and it was very easy. He was anything but an angel. He had just learned to walk and climb at the same time. Trust me, wings and halo don't help. The following year the Bob Dog costume became a bunny rabbit.
Then he discovered hip hop and he too got creative.
One year he decided to be an FBI agent and put on a suit and sunglasses. The neighbors were extra generous to the poor little fella with no costume. He was furious that no one saw his disguise. The next year he just wanted the same old Anakin Skywalker costume everyone else had.
His final costume was to do something with an old sheet and a cardboard sword, and call himself "Emperor Justinian". He was 12.
Enjoy this, it is a lot of fun.

With my boys I dressed them up as Pooh for their first Halloween (well my youngest was a pumpkin his first year but he was only 3 weeks old then), my daughter I'm already plotting for next year and I'm soooo typical, but I'm dressing her up as a Notre Dame cheerleader next year, we already have the ND outfit picked out through a Notre Dame shop, lol...

I'm not sure what my twin stepsons were their first year. But 2yrs ago, one was a firefighter and the other was a dalmation puppy. Last year they were Spiderman and Scooby Doo...not sure this year.

I've got it!
I was reminded that I was a witch the first 5 Halloweens I witnessed, so a cute little witch Alyssa shall be....
Great ideas! I'm still interested in what everyone is doing or has done before. BTW, do you remember some of your first costumes? My first was as a witch, and my last was as a hippie.

The hippie thing seems to be what teens like to do. I had a revised version of that as a beatnik, with wig, cigarette holder, and my favorite fake eyelashes. They were an inch long. I didn't get very far without glasses, and could not wear my contacts with them.
You know that teens are out for the candy when they show up at your door wearing strange makeup and hefty bags, and can't quite answer when you ask what they are dressed as - they pretend they don't hear!
