It is recommended here that women get the flu shot when they are PG...the risks out weight the pro's. I got it when PG with Aiden...and will be getting another one soon..so when/if we TTC I will have it already.

I typically get the flu from recieveing the vaccine. I am a teacher and was suggested that I get one, but I don't know if I want to risk it. My school district will not give me one because I am pregnant and my ob's office does not give them out. I am not sure what I am going to do.

You cannot get the flu from the flu shot. This is a myth, though you may be more susceptible to get something after getting the shot (just like any vaccine) because your body is making antibodies against the flu. The flu shot also does not protect your from getting the flu...it only protects you from the worst kinds of flu. The ones that can lead to deaths. HTH....if you really want one go to a clinic and get one...even if your doc doesn't administer them you have the right to get one if you want to.

Your OB's office doesn't offer the flu shot? My doctor made it a point to recomend one and had a nurse give me one after he was done with me.

I never get the flu (knocking on wood), but my doctor is making me get one at my next appointment. I'm a teacher as well and she said that I am double at risk with all the kidos and being pregnant. Hope it doesn't make me sick. Nearly everyone I know who's had it got sick! I'm scared!

I didn't get sick from mine. My only problem was I got really hot after a few minutes and I saw a few spots in my vision, but I also think that had to do with the fact that I had really bad anxiety on top of the fact that I as wearing a heavy coat and was in line TRYING to make my next appointment.. This one girl infront of me was going on forEVER with not being able to decide how to make her next appointment work with it having to be at the other office that our doctor practices at. THAT DARNED WOMAN....
