Food City Pumps Out Fuel Bucks
ABINGDON, Va. (May 16, 2006) - Food City, owned by K-VA-T Stores here, will give ValuCard customers in northeast Tennessee, southwest Virginia and southwest Kentucky $1 in “fuel bucks” each time they spend $25 in a single shopping trip or $10 in Food City store-brand purchases, said a report in the Business Journal of Blountville, Tenn. Consumers can redeem the coupon for gas at any Food City Gas ‘N Go location before Sept. 4. Beginning yesterday, consumers have until July 29 to earn fuel bucks. “Higher gas prices are challenging family budgets, which is putting a strain on food budgets,” Steve Smith, chief executive officer, Food City, was quoted as saying.
