As an adoptee I wish for God's peace to bless you today on your son's birthday. As an adoptee, I would have loved to get a birthday wish or card from my birth mom. I did not search for my birth family until I was in my mid 40's and my search took 2 and 1/2 years. I found 3 birth sisters. My birth parents sadly had died years before I found. I pray you may find your dear birth son and enjoy a warm reunion!
Blessings to you!
Jody

Thumbs up Thank You...

I would LOVE to be reunited with my son 'Patrick' , B U T
my instinct is telling me it won't happen(too many people
have 'old-fashioned ideas'=secrecy, shame,etc. ! When
he was born, the social worker kept reminding me about the
cost of the hospital bills(roughly $7,ooo=that was 19yrs. ago).
A social worker came to me, within the last year & told me
I could 'search' for him---the 'search fee' was $300---what a
crock of (bleep)---that is salt in the wound---I shouldn't have
to pay anything at all---calling it 'a search' is also a crock of
(bleep) cause all they have to do is turn on the computer,
click the mouse a couple of times, & would have the info
within an hour---VERY SAD that some people are SO
GREEDY !

Hi Lois and do not give up hope! I facilitate an Illinois adoption support group and have done this work for over 10 years in Indiana and IL. I have seen many adoptees and birth parents "find" even when the odds were against them. If your search originates in Illinois go a great Illinois adoption search website- The White Oak Foundation founded by a birth mom who reunited with her daughter. www.whiteoakfoundation.org
And Melisha's contact info is on that sight. She has helped a number of people I know search and find and she is not in it for the money. She may guide you for she is a most knowledgeable person on search in IL. I call her the walking textbook of Illinois adoption search!
Blessings to you and may God fill you with His peace and hope in tomorrow! He often has surprises in store!

Hi Lois,
I think it's really great that you want to find your son, and I hope that you are successful. I am adoptive parent of a 17 month old son and we have an pretty open adoption with his birthmother. In the first year I kept in touch with her through e-mail. But recently she got married and I don't hear from her as often. I worry that she will loose touch, and when he wants to find her, I will have lost contact.
Anyway, the point is that I think it wonderful that you are looking for him.
Kathy

Thumbs up Thanks...

for your emotional support,it means alot to me ! (Especially
cause you are an adoptive mother) !
I've met other adoptive moms who WILL NOT encourage
their kids to look for their b-moms, I have 2 Aunts that each
have an adopted daughter, that they have guilted into NOT
looking for the b-mom , 'Denise' is close to 40yrs.old &
'Amy' is around 30 !
I also have some friends (adoptive parents) THAT DO
encourage their kids to look for their b-parents !
Sincerely,
Lori W.
