Default Freaking out... a little....

Okay this question has been posed by many of us mommys to be, but okay it's baby number 3... at 16 weeks should I be feeling fluttering as often as I would if I could feel the baby kick (for all you ladies who are far enough to feel that) I've read in subsequent pregnancies you feel "flutters" a bit sooner than a first time pregnancy, but I'm not really noticing it all that much. I went to the doc last week and the baby was moving on the u/s and sometimes when I lay down I can feel it move but overall I don't really feel anything and it kind of scares me. And two, just because I'm curious, I'm not a small girl by any stretch of the imagination, but could that have any bearing on why I don't feel it really? I try not to worry but I can't help it sometimes.....

Yes- size can play a factor in feeling movement (so I have read)- also the position of the baby and the uterus. On that note, the baby's personality also plays a factor- some are wigglers....and some are more chill.

Honestly- I wouldn't worry. At 16 weeks I would feel some movement, but very faint and inconsistent. It didn't really start to get really noticeable until 18 weeks, and consistent until 20 weeks.

I think part of why they say second (and more) time mothers feel movement earlier is because they can recognize the movement for what it is, and not pass it off as gas, digestion, etc. Haha, when I first started to feel movement, I just thought it was my digestive system doing it's thing! I know it's hard not to worry, but if the u/s says everything is fine, it's likely that the baby is perfectly fine in there and you just aren't feeling it quite yet. Hell, there are some days where I don't feel much, either because the baby isn't very active, or she has gotten into a position that isn't conducive to me feeling movement. I was told not to do kick counts and the like until about 28 weeks.....

Hope things continue to go well

I have never read ever that ANYONE except for moms expecting more than one, can feel movement regularly that early. Most moms feel movement around 24-26 weeks. Multiparas feel movement earlier (or at least I did) and when I felt movement at 15 weeks. . .well, I figured it must be twins. So unless you're planning on having two () you should not be feeling regular movements for at least a few more weeks.

I'm pregant with my second and I didn't start feeling him (regularly) until around 27 weeks. It scared me to but my OB told me that sometimes that is normal. Let me tell ya, that when I started feeling him more all me worries went away. I too am not a small person. I didn't really lose the wait from my first pregnancy. but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Conner, my 4th, was the latest one I felt moving...I was 22 weeks with him. Every baby is different...between personality, positioning, and weight fluctuations, there's no real predicting when you "should" be feeling your baby move.

I'm sure all is well and you'll be feeling the flutters soon enough

Thanks girls!! I tend to worry a lot whenever I'm preggers (don't we all ) I guess I just can't recall when I actually felt movement any of the other two times I've been in this position. It's amazing how you get so excited for all those months about your little person coming and when they do arrive you forget all the things you went through and how and when they happened. I figured I was probably worried about nothing really and I know Kristen posted almost this same question a few weeks ago cause she was scared too (and I think she was about 16 weeks or so too like Julie and I are ) Thank you girls for being so helpful and understanding!
