No 2nd Q on B1G1 Items???
That was news to me today... mind you this was BEFORE I read the "coupon policy" section of this forum. I've been using coupons at Harris Teeter for quite some time now... and using a 2nd coupon on the "free" item in a b1g1f sale. Today I was told by a CSR and an assistant manager that I couldn't do that. I had no idea!!!! And I was convinced that this particular store's CSR and AM were WRONG! So, given my uppity nature and knowing that I am always right , I decided to send an email to corporate....
I have a question regarding your official coupon policy. Specifically, I would like to know if a second coupon may be used on the "free" item when a product is sold as "buy one, get one free." While at store #0171 (1621 N. Sardis Rd., Charlotte) earlier today, I was told first by the customer service representative, then again by the assistant manager that this is not allowed at Harris Teeter stores. Having been a loyal Harris Teeter customer in excess of three years, I was surprised to hear this. Is this a new policy? And, if so, how will Harris Teeter continue to remain competitive and maintain their positioning in a market where other stores in close proximity (Bi-Lo and Lowes Foods) do accept a second coupon on a buy one get one free item, charge said "buy one, get one" items at half price (thereby allowing the customer to purchase an odd number of items if need be), and double coupons with a face value up to $.99? I thank you in advance for your time and welcome your response.
So, tomorrow I'll probably get a reply from CS saying "Duh... where have you been, clueless woman!?!?" YIKES!!

It's been their official policy for quite some time. I know of only one that enforces it though. I think it's quite stupid of HT since every other store allows it and they do get the money back for that coupon.

Now that I know of this policy, I'm tempted to take my shopping elsewhere... I really don't like being railroaded into taking the 2nd item during a b1g1 sale. Also, now that I KNOW this is the policy, I won't be doing it again.... but, if I were willing, I'd never know from store to store when or if the policy might be enforced! I'm rather disappointed. Harris Teeter was my favorite shopping store. The occasional nearly-free items (with coupons) were added incentive for shopping there.

I've never had a problem....Harris Teeter just had their hefty cups B1G1 and I racked up! To have no problems in the future......OBSERVE THE CASHIERS!!! This is your #1 concern! I always observe who will be a problem cashier. Most time if I get in a line where the cashier could care less...I POUNCE! I've told people in other forums about this because this where all the frustrations come in....OBSERVANT CASHIERS. Cashiers that read all fine print, You cant use this coupon for this, etc, etc. Avoid them by observing. This will make all our couponing experiences great!

Oh, my cashier was great... she'd already rang up several 2nd coupons on b1g1 items! In fact, she commented that I was getting a great deal on a couple of products because they were b1g1 and I had two coupons! The problem came using two beer promotional coupons on chips, when the chips were b1g1. Here, all the beer promotional coupons have to get an override because there's no beer purchase required and they always beep. When the CSR stated that I couldn't use a 2nd coupon for the free item, the cashier looked absolutely shocked, as though she'd never heard of such.
There was this moment during all the commotion, when I looked at the cashier as if to say "What do I do??? Do I need to go to customer service to pay them for the coupons that were already deducted???" Her non-verbal response was a semi-eye roll from behind the AM's back, as if to say "Everything's fine, don't worry about it."
Interestingly, I've still not received a reply from corporate.

They respond but it takes forever by email. Lot quicker response from other grocerry store websites. I don't know what HT's problem is about answering things.

I ran into this problem this past spring. I had been using 2 q's on BOGO's at HT for MANY months with no problems. Then, I go to the newest HT in Raleigh at the time and am told I'm taking advantage of the system. I was made to feel like a criminal. I had no idea I wasn't allowed to do this. I had even been to that store a few times before with no problems. Obviously, I have not been back to that store. I have, however, been back to my favorite HT only a few times since then and had no problems. In the last 3 months I have been to HT one time. I am just not happy with the company's policy and not excited about the possiblity of being shot down, even at my favorite store. I hate uncertainty when it comes to saving money! Not worth the aggravation or time for me.

You cant give in like this! Harris Teeters is a wonderful store. I USED to have that problem with a cashier telling me I cant use two coupons on B1G1. You know what I did? I told her to void my order. I then went to another HT and used them...ALL OF THEM ON B1G1 ITEMS! I happen to be lucky to be surrounded by many HT'S. If I had a dollar for how many times someone has been behind me in line and said "How did you pay so little for all those groceries", I tell them COUPONS! Some look at me with amazement! I even had this woman ask me if I could show her how I do it..Soon after we started dating and now we double team to get our deals This is really fun...Dont let anyone deter you from saving money!!
