Unhappy Frustrated....Sad...Depressed....

So......
It has been a while since I have posted on here. DH and I have been seeing a new RE since September 2008. Well the RE that we had seen left the practice in March2008. Ugh! So, now our stuff has been transferred to the partner in the office. We went to see him yesterday because we wanted to meet with him before we started any more advanced treatements. As most of you know my DH and I do not make a lot of money. We make emough for us to live reasonably well for someone with no children and once we have children would be able to provide for them okay if we cut out some stuff. No big deal right. Well, then we met with this RE and he is very knowledgable and knows his stuff. He is one of the best in our area. I am glad we are seeing him. Okay, now for the bad news.... He told me that I might have the PCOS which I already knew because I was diagnosed when I was 12 yrs. old. However, those symptoms of PCOS are being masked because of other issues such as low ovarian reserve. I wanted to cry right there in his office. I am 26 yrs old and from the blood work and ultrasounds they had done on me back in november 08 that my eggs were acting like a person of 38-40 years old. Bombshell, I know. I don't know if me being a multiple that was born prematurely has any effect on this or not? I wouldn't think so but I am not the doctor. I am just frustrated because we will most likely have to do IVF with Injectables and possibly use an Egg donor depending on what my blood work shows that they drew yesterday. He said I should know the results of those test in approx. 3 weeks.Has anyone ever heard of anyone in my case ? Please everyone pray for us that we can find the financial means to fund this all!

I wish I had some advice for you.

I'm sure one of our friends on here has great advice.

Good luck

I am so sorry--I cant imagine being in your shoes.

A friend of mine has been given the diagnosis of low ovarian reserve. Her RE did a couple of IUIs, but stopped those since she had to have her ovaries stimulated so much and he didnt want to use too many of her eggs. His suggestion was IVF. Their problem comes from her DH not wanting to do anything as extreme as IVF and neither are comfortable at this point in using donor eggs. So for now they are just living for themselves (vacations, dance classes, etc). That diagnosis is so frustrating. I wish you all the best--some of the other ladies on here may have more advice.

My DH and I did IVF. It was on his end though with our problems. IVF took every penny we had (and more), but it was worth it. I was able to get pregnant with twins!

I wish you the best of luck.

I haven't heard of a women with PCOS having a low egg reserve but I'm sure it can happen. Women in their 40's get pregnant with there own children all the time. I'm sure your chance would be higher i you used a donor but I'm sure you can still use your own eggs.

As for the cost I know how you feel the first time cost us about $15,000 with meds. This last time was about $4,000 and my insurance covered the frozen meds b/c they are cheaper. The first time we used all of our savings and then some. We also joined Medcare which is a very low interest/high limit credit card used only for medical treatments. That may be an option for you. It was hard and it took us until this Jan. to finish paying it all off. We were very lucky that I had a savings account that I didn't know about(grandmother had set one up when I was a child and forgot about it) this time around to use for our second round. It's hard but soooo worth it in the end.

I would also check into your state infertility laws and see what state insurance you can get. We have a middle-lower class insurance though the state called Family care. We use it as a supplement to our regular insurance. Well we just found out that starting next year they will cover infertility. So I would check your state as well b/c you never know. I wish you the best of luck!

big hugs!!!

we might have to go the IVF route if we dont get Pg next month...its gonna cost us $10K plus and even tho we have good income finding that much "cash" is hard....so I know where you are at. My personal thoughts are that you (and I!) want a bubs so much that $10K or more is a small amount to sacrifice now for that outcome....I look at it as being - heck the kid missed out on private school for a year!

Does anyone know if the airforce will send my husband home when I get my surgery? My husband is deployed in Iraq.
