Just a heads up- if you in the US and are interested in how popular your child's name was in 2006, or if you are currently pregnant and want to make sure the name you have tentatively chosen isn't too popular, the social security list of names for 2006 was released today (I don't think I can post links, but it's on the social security website).

The name we have chosen, "Nora" has moved from 276 to 245, while "Norah" (the spelling we are going with) has moved from 524 to 513. Not a big jump so I'm not concerned......I'll be interested to see how it places in Canada, as there are often differences in naming trends/popularity. I suspect it may be less popular here, as the only "Nora/Norah" I have met are little old ladies.

I did not realize they kept records of popular names.

I have seen postings on other sites, but did not realize that a government
agency kept track too.
