Just add "health and beauty aids" with clothes, books, toys, tools, etc.
or call them "cosmetics, soaps, shampoos".
I've been trying to have one and hasnt worked out. I've got alot to sell, too.
Gotta figure out prices. Dont know if I read here or somewhere else a thread about others prices at their sales. Will have to find that. Lets post some of our prices and what sold best at what price, etc.
thanx

I just had mine last weekend, kind of a bust... but did make about $87 on my cvs stuff. I've spent more oop than that, but still have most of my cvs stuff also. The toothbrushes and paste didn't sell well at all. Irish Spring soap went really quick all 30 packs gone, 75 cents each.. ..Benedryl sold well for 1.50 each. Sold the free midol on pads for 25 cents a box, one lady bought it all. Mylanta didn't sell at all, just one bottle for 1.50. sold only one bottle of 65ct. maalox for 1.50. sold a few toothpaste for 1.50each. No one took the hair dye. Sold Oust and neutra air spray for 75 cents each, all sold. thinking will send a lot of my "overstock" down to the tornado victims in Greensburgh with the local fire dept.

When I had my sales last summer, I did very well.
And I live 5 miles out of town - in the boonies.
I started early in the season (Memorial Day was the first sale) when alot of people were out traveling and itchin' for the yard sale season to begin.
I made sure that I posted plenty of "bright & colorful" signs and made sure the directions were clearly posted as well.

And here is a list of some of my prices :

.75c - Aquafresh Toothpaste - sold fairly well
$1.00 - Colgate Toothpaste - sold well
$1.00 - Crest Toothpaste - sold well
.50c - G-U-M Toothbrushes - sold well
.75c - Colgate Toothbrushes - sold fairly well
$1.00 - Shampoo/Conditioner/Mousse/Gel/Hairspray (Vive, Sunsilk, VO5 twin Pks., Herbal Essences, etc.) - sold well
$1.50 - Pantene Shampoo/Conditioner - sold OUT!
.50c - Suave Shampoo/Conditioner - sold OUT!
$1.50 - Aussie Shampoo/Conditioner - sold OUT!
$2.00 - Infusium Shampoo/Conditioner - sold "ok"
.50c - (trial size) Skintimate Shave Gel - sold well
.50c - (trial size) Edge Shave Gel - sold well
$1.50 - Skintimate Shave Gel - sold OUT!
$1.50 - Edge Shave Gel - sold OUT!
.25c - (trial size) Crest Toothpaste - didn't sell much

$1.00 - Lysol Neutra Air and Glade Air Infusions - sold OUT!
$1.50 - Venus Razors (single) - sold OUT!
$1.75 - Venus Razor (3pk.) - sold OUT!
$1.00 - Cottonelle Fresh Folded Wipes - sold OUT!
$1.00 - Cottonelle 4pk. T.P. - sold OUT!
$1.00 - Charmin 4pk. T.P. - sold OUT!
.50c - Scott T.P. (single rolls) - sold OUT!

.50c - Johnson's Buddies Bar Soap - sold OUT!
$1.00 - Johnson's/Huggies Baby Wash/Shampoo's - sold OUT!
$1.50 - Huggies baby Wipes containers - sold OUT!

$2.00 - IAMS Dog Tarter Control Treats - sold "ok"
$1.00 - Snausages - sold well
$1.00 - Jerky Strips - sold OUT!

And I had a couple of boxes with various brands/such of make-up items (Revlon, Maybelline, CoverGirl, Physician's Formula) and just put a sign that read "Make-up items : $2.00 each!" - sold well

And - after ONE lady questioned my price of the .50c Scott T.P. - said that she thought that she could get it cheaper by buying it in the store.....it inspired me to utilize my "down time" during my sales to clip ads from the SALE papers, to tape onto the tables aside MY sale prices - to "visibly SHOW" that they were getting a better deal here.

After I did that, instead of people buying "one or two" of an item, they started asking if I had "a box" to put items in.
So, I started selling items by the boxfuls!

And for easy "inspiration", I went and got several medium-sized boxes and plastic grocery bags and put them under my sale tables - and made a sign for each table reading :
"For your convenience, bags & boxes are under the table"
(I made the signs colorful and "noticeable" and taped each sign to the front of each table)

I made just over $400.00 the first weekend and averaged a bit more all throughout the season.
I had ALOT of stockpile!

Hope that helps!
Good luck with your sales!
Sherry

I've never had just a "stockpile" sale, but when I've had stockpile in my garage sales I did this same thing with things I knew people may not know the retail value of, especially newer items and higher priced items(whitening kits, etc). It did seem to help when they could see how cheap they were really getting the item for.

I had a wonderful stockpile sale about a month ago. We started on Thursday and went through Sunday. My sister in law made around $800 or $900 and I made over $2,000!

Toothpaste $1
Toothbrushes $1
Pledge Duster Starter Kits $1.50
Oust $1.50
Baby Wipes (tub) $1.50
(soft pack of 40) $1
Small Travel packs (the hard kind) .50
Hair dye $2
Johnsons buddies and baby bars .50
Diapers Pull ups (jumbo) $5
Umbrella Strollers (from cvs) $5
Clean Team Hard Pack $1.50
Clean Team Carla Wipes .50
Glade Sprays .50
Glade Wisp Kit $2.50
Refils $1
Mouthwash $1
Glucose Monitors $5
Flossers and Floss $1
Pain Patches .50-.75 two different kinds
LF Gum .50
Body Wash $1.50 (we had dove proage and softsoap)
Huggies Bodywashes lotions and washclothes $1.50
Make up ranged from .50-$2.50
Drinks .50
Betty Crocker warm delights cookie mixes and boxes of popcorn .50
Trial Skintimate and edge .75
Full size Skintimate and Edge $1 (the trials actually sold faster than the fullsize???)
I cant remember what else we had. It was crazy and we needed a lot more bags than I thought we would.
My FAVORITE customer was the Garbage man He got out of his truck after tossing our trash in and looked around got really excited and called his wife and wound up coming back twice (while on duty Sorry to anyone that had late pick up in the area ) and bought a box of stuff.
We didn't put an ad in the paper at all. We made up about 15 signs and put them on stakes and stuck them around the area.

We had a yard sale this weekend and I made about $500 from my CVS stockpile. I think I could have priced things higher as I sold out in less than an hour. We were not planning to start until 9 but tons of people were there just after 8. We hadn't even put things out. I'd be up for a yard sale 9-10 only at the rate my CVS stuff went!

i had a yard sale in the middle of april. i did really well with my CVS stuff (about $800) plus it was a super cold weekend, even snowed on saturday a bit. i didn't advertise in the paper at all. i had 4 signs around the neighborhood and advertised each day on craig's list (for free!).

Default Salehop

as much as no advertising works sometimes i want to say that advertising usually does it's job. The site that i found that allows you to advertise garage sales is http://www.salehop.com They are specifically meant for that.
