Okay, we have given notice that we're leaving this apartment by the end of the month. When I spoke to the rental representative last week, we agreed that she would call me later this week to arrange a time to come in and take pictures to advertise the apartment online. That would give me time to get the place in reasonably decent shape.
She showed up on my doorstep at 9:30 this morning.
She asked if she could come in to take the pictures. I said no, I would really rather you didn't; the place is a mess. She asked if she could take a look, walked around me, said "Oh! there's nothing wrong with that" and started snapping pictures. She walked through, took a picture of my very messy kitchen, then of my very messy bedroom. When she asked where the bathroom was, I flatly said, "NO, not today" and made her leave.
Okay, by law, they're supposed to give me a minimum of four hours notice before showing the place after notice is given; they're supposed to give a minimum of 24hrs notice for entry for any other purpose. WHO the heck does this woman think she is barging into my house when I very distinctly asked her NOT to?
The worst part is, my DH called Landlord Tenant Relations, and they said that although she shouldn't have done it that way, we have no recourse. He called the rep's superior, and she got snarky with him and said that they can enter the premises on 4hrs notice to show it -- yeah, that's to SHOW it, not to barge in and take pictures!!! And after my speaking with the other rep and her finally agreeing to drop by Friday afternoon, the superior then decided to tell DH that that wasn't good enough and they'd be here on Thursday.
So now my DH has to take tomorrow off work so we can make sure this place is in "showable" condition. I've never been the tidiest person; now I'm here, six months pregnant, 4yo in tow, business to run, shipment in today, my birthday yesterday, birthday dinner tonight, DS's birthday tomorrow, plus trying to get things packed up to move, so you can imagine just what an absolute state my house is in... (**edit -- add on the fact that my DH has been mad busy this past week moving office as well) ...up to your eyeballs would be the best way to put it, and I was so absolutely mortified that she came in and took pictures I ended up in tears after she left.
THANK GOD this is that last time we'll be renting...
GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!!
