Default Getting Health Insurance if you are self-employed . . .

My husband is currently in school (no insurance offered through the school) and I am a contract worker. What type of health insurance do you have if you are in a similiar situation? I have health insurance, but it really isn't that great. My husband wasn't able to be covered at all because he has colitis. I'm planning on going to grad school in the fall, and I should be able to get insurance through the school then, but I was curious what options are out there.

My sister loves the National Association for the Self-Employed. http://www.nase.org/ They are a great resource. They do offer ways of getting decent health insurance. I don't think my sister's used it, since her husband is a state employee, but she swears by the help this organization gives.

Yes, I have health insurance through NASE.org as well and my husband is covered also. We have The Meta Health Insurance. Depending on the state you live and some other requirements, you can qualify pretty easily and the coverage is good for the price.

Good luck!
