Default girls and bras

This is something I'm still getting used to. Hard to really understand it as a male but I'm trying. Just wondered what other parents think is appropriate as far as pushup bras, cleavage enhancing bras etc. My daughters are still fairly young but they are into this stuff already and it makes me a bit uneasy. Thoughts?

oh you poor thing!

I think when they are old enough to pay for their own bras they can have whatever they want... hopefully that will hold them off until they are 16. Until then, I sports bras can make life easy.

ahermitt, sports bras should never be worn for long periods of time, they reduce blood flow to the breasts which increases the change of cancer or tumor.

Default I guess you would know Samual!

I have been wearing sports bras and sports type bras for 30 years. They cause alot less pain than underwire and other bras.

For young teens however, I would suggest SPORTY bras, not necessarily sports bras. I should have clarified... Bras can be fun without being sexy. They have cool stripes, dots, butterflies, and many cools styles that are also modest

I had to deal with this with my little sister because my stepmom was too embarrassed to take her bra shopping. walmart has nice preteen bras. They look like regular bras but are geared more ttowards younger girls. I'm pretty sure its the mary kate and ashley line. We looked through those and found some "fun" bras that we both approved of.

Thanks, I will look into that. We've been letting the two oldest girls buy their own bras and underwear for a while now. Once we lost the thong battle we decided they could handle it themselves lol. But only recently I learned that they have taken to wearing these pushup kind that seem to be worn for the sole purpose of showing off cleavage. Now their mother doesn't see it as being a problem but I'm not so sure. They are both fairly developed for their age so perhaps they feel it's something to show off but I just wonder what other parents think about that. One is 12 and the other is 13, and I can't help feeling they shouldn't be advertising their bodies like that just yet. Am I overreacting?

My sister is quite developed and so was I but I don't agree with girls that age "showing off". And even with the thong thing my sister also wanted that and we compromised with boy shorts. They are sexy without being showy and a lot of young girls dont like the granny panties thing so it might help.

Thanks very much for this suggestion, Kaylo. I didn't realize the boyshorts were so popular with the preteen set but my girls apparently love them so I've splurged on them for their respective birthdays. I agree with you that they are sexy underwear but they don't give off the impression of looking 's.luttty' or anything like that so I think you're right that they're a good compromise between what we as parents are looking out for and what our girls want. They've got a few thongs already but I think at least in terms of what I buy for gifts here and there this is a much better choice.
