So first i will give you alittle back ground on my BF experiences. I BF'd my oldest for 6 weeks but not exclusively, i pumped and bottle fed too. I had more than enough milk but baby wasn't real interested in the boob. So after a couple weeks of pumping with a hand pump i was tired of it and quit. Baby #2 I BF'd for 4 weeks. At 5 days post pardum I got super sore and bloody nipples. So I began pumping to give my nips a break. I started nursing again about day 9 and still pumped here and there to make it easier to be around family and out and about. We went on a vacation to Orlando when she was 4 weeks. i just found it hard with all the sight seeing to stop and BF in the middle of it all. BTW: we went with my parents and they aren't big supporters of BFing. I pumped for 2 additional weeks and then quit.
Now I am 4 months pregnant with #3. I have gone back and forth trying to decide what to do....BF? Formula? pump again? Well after reading lots of posts and lots of info on the internet I have come to the decision to try my hardest with this one to get past the 6 week mark and become a successful breast feeder! I feel like I quit too easily with the first two and would love to be able to go as long as i can.....at least 6 months.
Heres what I would SOOOO appreciate: I would love to collect ideas and advice from all of you who are or have been BFers. What are the do's and don'ts?
From what i have read from all the posts is to not use the pump unless it it absolutly neccessary.....i know i used mine alot both times....probably way too much and probably sabotaged myself without even knowing it
Please tell me anything and everything you know about Bfing!
Thanks Julie
BTW: i am due November 5th but delivering via c-section at 38 weeks....around October 22nd
