Default glucose testing?

Can anyone give me information on the blood glucose test? I go tomorrow and I'm just interested in what to expect. Also, will I get the results tomorrow? And it's better to go first thing in the morning, right? My dr. didn't tell me any of this!

Not sure about going 1st thing in the morning, don't know if that makes a difference or not.

When I went, they gave me a little bottle of what tasted like orange soda. I had to drink it in 3 minutes or less. Then, I had to sit for 1 hour. Once the hour passed, they took some blood. That's it!

My lab took 2 days to get the results back. They sent it right to my Doc. If you pass, that is it. If you do not, you will have to go back and do it again, but the second time it is a 3 hour test (I believe) instead of 1 hour.

Good luck!

Don't eat before the test, not even a piece of gum. It will throw off the test and then you'll have to take the 3 hr one which was not fun at all!!!!

I was told to eat nothing - not even drink coffee. And I think I got the results that day. Mine was high (no big surprise), so I had to take the three hour test, which sucks because you go a LONG time without eating. And then I failed that one. Due to my age (40) and family history of diabetes, I was immediately put on insulin, but I think most people, if their test comes back bad, just manage it with diet.
