Default Glucose tolerance test, activity after drink?

Hi all! New here. I am taking my GTT next week and since I will have a 2 and 4 year old in tow they will allow me to pick up the drink and come back after an hour. I can go home or maybe run some errands. It is not that far for me to go home but it is much easier if I could take advantage of the fact that I am out and do some grocery shopping or something while I wait an hour.
For my first two, I stayed in the office and sat there. I am wondering if moving around will have an effect on the results. If anyone has any insight please let me know!
Thanks!

I have to go back in for an one hour one next Tuesday, and they sent home the "orange drink" with me this time. I just have to be there around 30-20 before I need drawed so they don't have to rush and squeeze me in.
So just ask your Dr about it and see what they say. Cause I can see that being a huge pain in the butt if not. Good luck!

I wasn't allowed to even walk around or anything. They said that activity would effect the outcome of the test. So I just had to sit there. Now, wether or not that was because they just didn't want to have to track me down or something, I don't know, but I hope they didn't lie to me just so I would stay close by.

Exercise has an effect on blood sugar. It lowers it. So they want to see what levels you are at in a definite time frame without any help. That's why the sitting around. It may be ok with some labs if you take the drink home, and drink it just before coming in, and sit around for half hour. But other labs may want a more controlled setting to verify the result.
